the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), hosted the "Legal
Conversation Meeting " seminar. The opening ceremony was presided over
by Police Lieutenant General Rutthaphon Naowarat, Minister of Justice,
at the Meta 1 Room, 2nd Floor, Rajpruek Club.
The Justice Minister was joined by Police Major Yutthana
Praedam, Director-General of the DSI, senior DSI executives, and
representatives from foreign law enforcement agencies.
The project served as a
platform to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in law
enforcement between the DSI and international counterpart agencies of similar
jurisdictions, including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the United
States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Ministry of Justice
Investigation Bureau of Taiwan (MJIB), and the United Kingdom's National
Crime Agency (NCA).
The Minister of Justice stated that crime has become
increasingly complex and interconnected across borders, involving transnational
crime, cybercrime, and corruption. Therefore, developing the potential of Thai
law enforcement agencies to meet international standards is a critical mission
of the Ministry of Justice. This project is considered part of an academic and
policy study aimed at upgrading the DSI’s operations to ensure efficiency,
transparency, and resilience against future challenges.
The DSI Director-General revealed
that the "Legal Conversation Meeting " project is a DSI initiative
led by Police Captain Surawoot Rangsai, Deputy Director-General of the
DSI as part of a comparative study between the DSI and similar foreign law
enforcement agencies, focusing on analysis across five key dimensions: Organizational
structure, Roles and authority, Management models, Operational standards, and Operational
independence. The results of this study will be used to formulate policy recommendations
for further organizational development.
In addition to gathering in-depth data for research, organizing this project lays the foundation for legal and law enforcement cooperation. This will lead to closer information exchange, coordination, and collaboration in the future, ultimately benefiting the overall elevation of Thailand's justice system.
