DSI Joined Forces to Search the Large Waste Sorting Plant in Pathum Thani Province, Suspicious of Illegally Disposing the Hazardous Materials, Affecting the General Public

On July 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, Police Major Woranan Srilam, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection Crime; Mr. Angsuket Visuthvatanasak, Director of the Bureau of Justice Enhancement Affairs; Mr. Jakkaphop Klinhom, Head of the Justice Enhancement Affairs Division 2 / Head of the investigation team; and the investigation team, joined forces with the Bureau of Natural Resources and Environment Crime Suppression, led by Police Colonel Winyu Jamsai, Superintendent of Police Division 2; Mr. Sarawut Porntip, Assistant to the Director of Pathum Thani Provincial Industrial Office; officials from Pollution Control Department and Groundwater Resources Department, totaling 50 officials, executed the search warrant no. 598/2568 issued by the Criminal Court, dated July 23, 2025, to search the T.Kiddee Products Co., Ltd., Klong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, and the area within the search location—the waste sorting plant, landfill, wastewater treatment plant, and waste dump.

The search was to uncover facts and collect the evidence related to the business operation, such as the plant establishment permit, the utilization of the land, and the usage of the hazardous material disposal machine. The authorities also collected the information concerning the waste sorting business, the purchase and sales records, as well as collected samples of the hazardous materials and water from the plant, the area nearby, the public canal, and the soil, to inspect whether any heavy metal or hazardous material has contaminated the water or the area.

This operation was initiated following the locals’ complaint with the DSI, stating they had been suffering from the waste disposal of the company. Additionally, a large amount of hazardous materials, such as chemicals and heavy metals, were brought in to be sold or dumped in the plant, which caused a widespread impact to the public. Police Major Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), therefore ordered the operation on this matter by assigning the investigation role to the Bureau of Justice Enhancement Affairs, in collaboration with the Bureau of Consumer Protection Crime.

Initially, the plant was suspected of discharging untreated wastewater into the public water sources without establishing a standardized wastewater treatment plant. Furthermore, the incineration, which was operated by a large number of foreign workers, has caused unpleasant smell across the area. It is also suspected that influential local figures may be providing supports behind the scene, enabling the plant to continue its operation despite multiple complaints having been filed with various agencies.

As a result, the investigation and joint forces to uncover the facts and collect the evidence is underway. However, if the matter is considered an offense which meets the criteria for a special case, further investigation will be conducted following the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 (2004) accordingly.
