DSI Joined Forces with Related Agencies to Investigate and Seize the Encroached Land in Tok Phrom Forest, Chanthaburi Province, With the Discovery of the Illegal Orchard of 120 Rais

DSI Joined Forces with Related Agencies to Investigate and Seize the Encroached Land in Tok Phrom Forest, Chanthaburi Province, With the Discovery of the Illegal Orchard of 120 Rais

 


On August 5 – 6, 2025, Police Major Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, assigned Police Major Natapol Ditsayatham, Director of the Bureau of Natural Resources and Environment Crime, under the supervision of Police Major Jatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, to instruct Police Major Nimit Promma, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Natural Resources and Environment Crime, to inspect Tok Prom national reserved forest in Khlung District, Chanthaburi Province. The inspection was in collaboration with the Forest Resource Management Office No. 9 (Chonburi), the Special Suppression Task Force (Payak Prai), Khlung District Administrative Officers, and police officers from Tok Prom Police Station, to uncover the fact of the illegal forest encroachment used as a large orchard. The Department of Special Investigation, through its Bureau of Natural Resources and Environment Crime, has accepted the case to investigate following the investigation case no. 85/2568 and 88/2568.

Upon the investigation, the authorities discovered the illegal cultivation of durians and mangosteens in Tok Prom national reserved forest, Chanthaburi Province. The land was prepared to grow durians, mangosteens, and other fruits for 4 parcels, totaling 120 Rais, without permission. This behavior violated the National Reserved Forest Act, B.E. 2507 (1964), and its amendments, the Forests Act, B.E. 2484 (1941), and other related laws. Consequently, the authorities investigated and seized the land, however, no offenders were found. The authorities also recorded the GPS coordinates and created a map of the land plot, as well as filed a complaint to the inquiry officials of Tok Prom Police Station. The investigation team will then report to the Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation for further consideration on designating it as a special case.

The Department of Special Investigation prioritizes the problem concerning natural resources and environment, specifically the encroachment of national reserved forest, national park, or state land.
