Official Statement on Suspension of Joint SOP Signing
with Cambodian National Police

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) announces the suspension of the planned joint signing of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) on Human Trafficking Investigations with the Cambodian National Police.
The SOP was intended to establish a cooperative framework between Thailand and Cambodia. to enhance coordination in combating human trafficking. The official signing was originally scheduled. for early 2026.
However, recent developments in international relations have disrupted this initiative. Reports have surfaced of Cambodian military operations targeting innocent Thai civilians with dangerous weapons, in disregard of basic human rights. Additionally, the persistence of transnational criminal activities - such as online scams and forced labor operations linked to Cambodian networks - continues to raise serious concerns. These activities have affected both Thai and foreign nationals and often go unaddressed.
Given the current tensions and unresolved issues, it is not feasible at this time to coordinate effective anti-trafficking measures between the two nations. Consequently, the DSI has decided. to postpone the signing of the SOP and all related cooperative initiatives until the situation stabilizes.
Despite the suspension of joint efforts, the DSI remains firmly committed to combating human trafficking, transnational crimes, cyber scams, and forced labor. Furthermore, the DSI continues to extend humanitarian assistance to all victims of human trafficking in Thailand, regardless of citizenzhip, including Cambodian nationals.
