DSI and CIFS jointly work to develop forensic science for investigation and inquiry

 

 

       On Monday, October 25, 2021, at 2.30 p.m. the Director-General of the DSI, Mr. Triyarith Temahivong, accompanied by his executives Pol.Lt.Col. Amorn Hongsritong (the Director of Natural Resources and Environment Crime Bureau), Pol.Capt Piya Raksakul (the Director of Special Case Management Bureau), Pol.Lt.Col. Natapol Ditsayatham (Expert on Consumer Protection and Environment Crime) and Pol.Maj. Worranan Srilum (Special Case Expert), met Pol.Col. Songsak Raksaksakul (the Director-General of CIFS) at the CIFS, the Government Complex, Ratthaprasasanabhakti Building (Building B), attended by Pol.Lt.Col. Shane Kanchanapach (Deputy Director-General of CIFS) and the executives of CIFS, to discuss working guidelines between the DSI and the CIFS for enhancing their collaboration efficiency.

       The DSI and the CIFS signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Working to Protect and Suppress, Investigate and Inquire the Offences relating to Special Cases and Forensic Science Services on July 3, 2018. Throughout the years, the DSI and the CIFS have coordinated for their cooperation in supporting forensic evidence examinations in cases. For today discussion, both agencies agreed on the matters as follows:

  1. 1. The integration of information for tracking missing persons and identificating anonymous persons and corpses/bodies, the DSI is ready to support the working of Subcommittee on the Integration in the Mission of Tracking Missing Persons, and identificating anonymous persons and corpses/bodies/unidentified bodies as some of them related to enforced disappearance, the criminal case.
  2. 2. The CIFS will cooperate with the DSI to drive its work on the proof of nationality of stateless persons by DNA examinations for humanitarian principles and the country’s security.
  3. 3. The CIFS allows the DSI to access information on its database system of missing persons and anonymous corpes/bodies for supporting special case investigation and inquiry.
