RSO and DSI plan to setup the CIU for Counter-Terror

 

 

On 17 October 2018, at the DSI, Mr. Christopher J. Baltz, Assistant Regional Security Officer and Mrs. Prapaipan Juntarasuntongul of the US Regional Security Office (RSO) of the US Embassy called on the DSI's Deputy Director-General Pol.Col.Songsak Raksaksakul, Pol.Lt.Col.Paisith Sungkahapong (Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau) and Pol.Lt.Col.Wichai Suwanprasert (Director of Technology and Cyber Crime Bureau) to discussed the possibility to setup the Cyber Investigation Unit for Counter-Terror at the DSI under the Antiterrorism Assistance Program (ATA), supported by the US Department of State.

 

 

ATA will provide necessary equipment and training, with an emphasis on computer forensics and intelligence gathering and analysis, to qualified officials of the DSI to help enhance the DSI's capability in the fight against Terrorism at the national and international level. ATA provided this kind of assistance with favorable outcomes to many countries, including Indonesia and the Philippines. The DSI's representatives agree in principle with the idea and the US officials will report to the government and make an official proposal for further discussion.
