Belgian Delegation from Federal Prosecution Office visited DSI

On March 19, 2018, 2 p.m., at the DSI, Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang (Director-General), Pol.Col. Songsak Raksaksakul (Deputy Director-General) and Pol.Lt.Col. Paisith Sungkahapong (Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau) welcomed and addressed a Belgian delegation headed by Mr. Eric VAN DER SIJPT (Federal Magistrate and Spokesman of Federal Prosecution's Office of Belgium), Mr. Patrick GOVERT (Belgian Consul in Bangkok) Mr. Eli LOOS (Belgian Vice-Consul in  Bangkok), Mr. Didier DE MUNCK and Mr. Gerry VAN LOOCK from the Federal Judicial Police, and 4 related officers (9 persons in total) as coordinated by Mr. Pascal Wautelet (a Federal Police Liaison Officer stationed at Embassy of Belgium in Bangkok).

In this visit, the DSI's representatives lectured the Belgian delegation on the missions and work against human trafficking and terrorism of the DSI including its relationship with the Belgian Federal Police as their responsibilities for controlling serious and transnational organized crime are similar. It is expected that the MOU on Crime Control between the DSI and the Belgian Federal Police will be signed in the future.

As this year 2018 also marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Belgium, it is hoped that their cooperation in enforcing laws for crime control will increase further.
