DSI arrested Chor.Lek Sukhothai and Doctor Joy with seized exhibits worth more than 2 million baht

 

 

       In response to the policy of the Minister of Justice, Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, on the urgency of crime suppression and legal proceedings against the group of people inducing the public to invest in non-existent business as public cheating and fraud to be handled by agencies under the Ministry of Justice, due to its impacts on the public order and the national security, the DSI, as the special crime prevention and suppression agency, has implemented the foresaid policy by assigning its agencies to seriously and urgently prevent and suppress the foresaid crime.

       The DSI investigated the case of the group of people jointly announcing and persuading the public to invest in various projects by claiming as the costs of influential persons for withdrawing money in the amount of four hundred million baht before sharing it out among investors, by offering a compensation at the rate of 1 million baht per 100 baht of investment or called “Roi Lak Laan” or “Gang Ngoen Boon”. This gang has operated its business in the areas of the northeastern region for more than 10 years. In April 2021, the DSI investigated the foresaid case as its special case and expanded its investigations until it discovered the network of many offenders. Besides, forging documents, bankbooks and documents relating to those non-existent projects was found. This case there are more than 30,000 people becoming the victims of the gang. The DSI, therefore, requested arrest warrants against many related persons.

       Recently, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, the Director General of the DSI Mr. Triyarith Temahivong, and the Director of Regional Operation Bureau, Mr. Mahesak Punsanga assigned the Head of the Special Case Operation Center Region 6 Mr. Phongsathon Inamnuay, and the special case official team of the special case no. 44/2564, equipped with the Criminal Court’s arrest warrant no. 1637/2564 dated October 8 2021, and the Sawankhalok Provincial Court’s search warrant no. khor.9/2564 dated October 12 2021, raided to search and arrest Mr. Teerathat Chathornkanok or Chor.lek Sukhothai (the alleged offender) at the house no. 98/1 Moo. 3, Mae-Sin Subdistrict, Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province, seize the exhibits comprising 2 mobile phones, a computer notebook, and forfeit a house worth more than 2 million baht. At the same time the special case inquiry officials jointly arrested Miss Pattaraya Chutikornsongwut or Doctor Joy (the alleged offender no.3 in the same case), in the area of Bang Khae Subdistrict, Bangkok subject to the criminal court’s arrest warrant. The alleged offenders were detained at the DSI for inquiry and prosecution in the offences of jointly lending loan amounting to public cheating and fraud, forging documents, entering false data into a computer system and money laundering.

       The DSI has its determination to tackle special crime as threats to the public and the national security complying with the policy of the government and the Minister of Justice, Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin for better living society.
