DSI, in coordination with the Immigration Division 1, arrested a Tanzanian madam for luring her fellow citizens into the sex trade using black magic

On April 20, 2026, at approximately 2.00 p.m., the Surveillance and Intelligence Center, in coordination with the Investigation Sub-Division of Immigration Division 1, arrested Mrs. Aliza (surname withheld), also known as Kadija or Mapoda, a 40-year-old Tanzanian. The suspect, pursuant to Criminal Court arrest warrant No. 7366/2568, dated December 17, 2025, is accused of committing conspiracy by agreement between 2 or more persons to commit the offense of human trafficking, where at least one of conspirators has acted upon the conspiracy, jointly by three or more persons or by members of an organized criminal group, specifically by procuring, transporting, detaining, confining, providing accommodation to, or receiving any person by threatening, using force, coercing, deceiving, exercising power to dominate a person by reason of being in a state of mental vulnerability or any other wrongful means, for unlawfully seeking benefits from prostitution; and of conspiring between 2 or more persons to jointly procure any person so that that person will engage in prostitution, whether committed within or outside the Kingdom, by using trickery, deception, threat, physical assault, wrongful exercise of power to dominate, or any means of coercion, which is the act of a serious offense related to a transnational organized criminal group. The suspect was arrested at an apartment in Bangkok. Upon arrest, the officers informed the suspect of charges and her legal rights under the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as the requirement to continuously record video and audio during the arrest and detention until the suspect is transferred to the special case inquiry officials, pursuant to the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act, B.E. 2565 (2022). Subsequently, the suspect was handed over to the special case inquiry official for further legal proceedings.

The aforementioned case is a special case No. 81/2567 by the Bureau of Human Trafficking, where Mrs. Aliza and her accomplices acted as procurers and brokers, luring Tanzanian victims to be sexually exploited through coercion, physical assault, claiming sorcery and black magic, by exploiting victims’ physical vulnerability. Benefits were also collected from such prostitution. In this case, the Special Case Inquiry Officials of the Bureau of Human Trafficking have the opinion recommending the prosecution of 3 suspects. One suspect has already been arrested, while the remaining two are currently being pursued. The case file has already been submitted to the Human Trafficking Case Prosecutor.

The operation to track down and apprehend the offenders pursuant to the special case arrest warrant is according to the directives of Police Major Yutthana Praedam, Director General of the Department of Special Investigation, and Police Major Jatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, who assigned the Surveillance and Intelligence Center, an agency under the Director General’s direct command, to arrange the operation team to track down and apprehend the offenders pursuant to the warrant, in order to bring the alleged offenders who remain at large to justice.
