DSI Joined Synergy to Combat Nominees and Mule Accounts Forum, 5 Thai Agencies Empowering Accountants to Protect the Country’s Economy.

On Monday, December 22, 2025, The Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) assigned Police Lieutenant Colonel Anurak Rojnirankit, Deputy Director-General of the DSI, to represent the department at the forum: "Synergy to Combat Nominees and Mule Accounts: Professional Skepticism of Illegal Businesses."

          The event provided platform for sharing experiences regarding the potential impacts when accounting professionals are used as tools or become complicit in wrongdoing. This included the issues involving the use of Thai nationals as "nominees" or proxies to disguise foreign ownership.

          The event was organized by the Ministry of Commerce, with Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce, presiding over the opening ceremony at the Grand Diamond Ballroom, IMPACT Forum Building, Muang Thong Thani. Over 1,500 participants attended the event.

          The events was initiated as a response to the current trends where legal entities are registered and bank accounts are opened specifically to defraud the public (Corporate Mule Accounts). This includes establishing legal entities to circumvent the law or conduct illegal business, as well as foreign nationals using Thai proxies or nominee to register as Thai legal entities. These activities pose a significant threat to national security across social, economic, commerce, and investment sectors.

          The Bureau of Security Crime of the DSI hosted an exhibition booth to educate and build immunity for accountants and attendees. The booth garnered significant interest and featured: Educational games with prizes and the "Shadow of the Nominee: The Hidden Game" a semi-realistic anime that tells the story of a foreigner who travels to Thailand with simple dreams but is led by a suspicious organization into an unintended situation.
