DSI attends “the 7th Household Debt Settlement Mediation in Surat Thani Province and the meeting with locals by agencies under the Justice Ministry”

 

 

       On May 6, 2022, Mr. Triyarith Temahivong (the Director-General of the DSI), accompanied by Pol.Capt. Piya Raksakul (Director of Bureau of Financial, Banking and Money Laundering Crime), Mr. Mahesak Punsanga (Director of Bureau of Regional Operation), Mr. Suphachai Khamkhum (Head of Special Case Operation Center Region 8) and his officers, and officers of  the Debtors and Unfairly-Treated People Help Center of the DSI attended “the 7th Household Debt Settlement Mediation in Surat Thani Province and the meeting with locals by agencies under the Justice Ministry” at the hotel named Kaew Samui Resort, Mueang District, Surat Thani Province. Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin (the Minister of Justice) chaired the opening of the event aimed at helping people solve their debt and trouble problems, such as student loans, loans for purchase of vehicles and motorcycles, credit card debts and personal loans. The Right and Liberties Protection Department and the Legal Execution Department integrated their work with the Student Loan Fund and financial institutions to provide services to people being in trouble by arranging dispute mediation both the pre-litigation dispute mediation and the mediation after the court judgment.

       Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin (the Minister of Justice) told the mass media the case of corruption and embezzlement in the Krabi Oil–Palm Farmers Cooperatives Federation Limited approved to be the DSI’s special case by the resolution of the Board of Special Case on last January 25, 2022. This case, on March 22, 2022, the special case inquiry official team and the officers of Central Institute of Forensic Science jointly raided the residences of former executives of the Krabi Oil–Palm Farmers Cooperatives Federation Limited for 9 locations to search evidence of crime, then accepted the inquiry file of the criminal case of Ao Luek police station as a part of special case inquiry files and interviewed the relevant witnesses for collecting evidence. The letters requesting the inspection of financial documents of persons related to this case were submitted to banks for inquiry use. This case is in the process of inquiry, evidence collection and informing the charges to the alleged offenders. Due to numerous injured persons, the DSI speed up its investigation for the completion of its case.
